Michiel ten Bokum is a Netherlands-based artist whose work spans painting, drawing, and sculpture. A graduate of the Akademie voor Kunst en Vormgeving in Den Bosch and De Ateliers in Amsterdam, Michiel’s work is characterized by a unique blend of humor, self-mockery, and personal obsessions, shaping his distinctive thematic style.
His art is deeply rooted in a continuous anthropological curiosity about social structures within both local and global communities, frequently focusing on the narratives of underdogs and outsiders. Through his subjective lens, he explores themes of violence, individual madness, and various forms of abjection, often expressed in a raw, politically incorrect, and unapologetically vulgar manner.
