The painting of writing is a common thread in Cecilia Rebergen‘s work. She always does precise research beforehand and can lose herself in studying and copying writings. She combines the subdued and inquisitive way of working with a playful showdown with large material, when the image is finally formed.
Rebergen prefers to work with industrial residual material. It already has a history and it allows her to experiment with a wide range of materials. The only way to be free in this is to accept all the risks that deforming and perhaps even destructive acts entail.
